CAAL Leaders MOVEE

Grow Your Leadership

CAAL Leaders MOVEE (Making Our Voices Effective for Equity) is a leadership program created to support, develop, and sustain Asian Minnesotan social justice movement leaders. MOVEE offers a summer intensive retreat(s), followed by practice, and continuing alumni activities.

Over two retreats MOVEE leaders will:

  1. Reflect deeply on the “For what?” of their leadership using a social justice movement framework,
  2. Develop skills and knowledge to be more effective social justice movement builders, and
  3. Work on sustaining one’s leadership for the social justice movement fight for justice, equity, and prosperity.

This program is made available by the generous support of our funders, so there is currently no cost to the selected participants.

People from diverse gender-identities, ethnicities, ages, and experiences are encouraged to apply. When reviewing applications for MOVEE, we consider if the applicant:

  • Identifies as Asian (inclusive of adopted and mixed heritage individuals)
  • Demonstrates a connection and involvement with activities that are useful for building power and equity for Asian Minnesotan communities.
  • Is interested in applying their leadership in ways that align with CAAL’s key activities and priority issue areas.
  • Requirement: MUST be able to attend scheduled retreats

Please contact info@caalmn.org to learn more about MOVEE and other social justice leadership programming at CAAL.

“MOVEE is a reflective, nurturing space where everyone has the opportunity to learn something new from the guides, and especially from other cohort members. What I appreciate about MOVEE is that it weaves our API identify throughout the different frameworks and aligns it to solidarity efforts. This helps me think about how I want to grow and sustain my social justice movement efforts.”
