November 9, 2020 to November 13, 2020
This year we turned out and voted in record numbers never before seen in the United States. Here in Minnesota, we are already at a record 79 percent turnout with more votes still to be tallied. As a nation we chose to elect Joe Biden as our President and chose to make history by electing Kamala Harris as our first Asian American, our first Black American, our first female, Vice President.
Thank you for voting. Thank you for using your power and making your voice heard.
As Asian Americans, we turned out in droves and voted for issues that mattered to us: universal access to healthcare, police accountability, climate change, and immigration. One out of five AAPI voters this year voted for the first time – that’s nearly 1.5 million new AAPI voters! With razor thin local and statewide elections across our country including in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, and right here in Minnesota, Asian American voters have made the difference.
Now, the election is coming to an end and the real work begins. Join us for our upcoming State of Asian Minnesotans: Radically Reimagining Our Future event on Friday, November 13th from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, where we will discuss the results of the elections and what this means for our work ahead as Asian Americans.
In solidarity,
Nick Kor
