Grow Your Leadership
CAAL Leaders MOVEE (Making Our Voices Effective for Equity) is a leadership program aimed at supporting, developing, and sustaining Asian Minnesotan social justice movement leaders. MOVEE offers leaders intentional space for deep self-reflection, growing each leader’s roots, and strengthening the leader’s social network so that they can sustain themselves as they work for justice, equity, and prosperity.
Over two retreats—June 20-22, and August 1-3, 2025—MOVEE leaders will:
1) Reflect deeply on their leadership using a social justice movement framework;
2) Develop skills and knowledge to be more effective social justice movement builders;
3) Work on sustaining one’s leadership for the social justice movement, fight for justice, equity, and prosperity.
This program is made available by the generous support of our funders, so there is currently no cost to the selected participants.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 MOVEE Summer Program!
People from diverse gender-identities, ethnicities, ages, and experiences are encouraged to apply. When reviewing applications for MOVEE, we examine if the applicant can attend both scheduled retreats (this is a requirement) in addition to the following:

- Demonstrates a connection and involvement with activities that are useful for building power and equity for Asian Minnesotan communities

If selected, leaders also become a part of a growing alumni network that is building a stronger ecosystem of support for each other’s work and growth. All cohort members are required to attend both retreats.
This program is made available by generous support of our funders, so there is currently no financial cost to the selected participants aside from travel to and from the retreat location both weekends. A travel stipend will be provided to applicants/participants who request it. If you have any questions, want further information, or need any assistance filling out your application, please contact Program Manager, Russell Chapman, at russell@caalmn.org.
“It’s a program that centers [on] Asian American perspectives and voices, and provides useful and engaging leadership education for social justice leaders. It is a wonderful connecting environment for networking, healing, and learning.”
